How Ambroxol + Guaiphenesin + Levosalbutamol works

  • Ambroxol is known as a mucolytic agent, which means it helps to break down mucus. Excessive Nitric oxide (NO) in the airways can lead to inflammation and other issues. Ambroxol has been found to block the NO-driven activation of soluble guanylate cyclase. This inhibition might reduce the excessive production of mucus, thus lowering phlegm thickness and improving the movement of bronchial secretions.
  • Guaifenesin can irritate gastric receptors and trigger parasympathetic reflexes, leading to the release of thinner mucus from glands. This may induce coughing and help clear thick mucus from blocked airways, temporarily easing breathing difficulties.
  • Levosalbutamol relaxes the smooth muscles in all airways, ranging from the trachea to the terminal bronchioles. It increases cyclic AMP concentrations, which inhibit the release of mediators from mast cells in the airways. Levosalbutamol relaxes the airways regardless of the spasmogen involved, providing protection against all bronchoconstrictor challenges.
