Amlodipine + Enalapril is a combination medication for managing hypertension and angina.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It works by blocking the entry of calcium into muscle cells in the heart and blood vessels. This relaxes and widens the blood vessels, increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart while reducing its workload.
Enalapril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by blocking an enzyme that is needed to produce a substance called angiotensin II. When angiotensin II is reduced, blood vessels can relax and widen, leading to lower blood pressure. Additionally, Enalapril reduces the secretion of another substance called aldosterone, which leads to increased excretion of sodium and water from the body.
Together, these two components help to effectively manage high blood pressure and reduce symptoms of chest pain by improving blood flow and reducing strain on the heart.
