Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is primarily meant for adults. The safety and effectiveness of this combination have not been established in pediatric patients.

Contraindications

• Atenolol + Nifedipine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to either component. This combination is also contraindicated in patients with cardiogenic shock (a condition in which your heart suddenly can't pump enough blood), heart block, sick sinus syndrome (heart rhythm disorder), decompensated heart failure, or severe hypotension (low blood pressure).

Other Medications to Avoid

• Atenolol + Nifedipine may interact with other blood pressure-lowering pills (e.g., chlorthalidone, ramipril), antipsychotic medicines (e.g., alprazolam, risperidone) and anti-HIV medicines (e.g., nelfinavir, ritonavir).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of this combination may cause severe hypotension, bradycardia (resting heart rate that's slower than normal), and other cardiovascular effects. If you suspect an overdose, seek immediate medical help.
• If you forget to take a dose of Atenolol + Nifedipine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double up on doses.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Taking the medication at bedtime may help manage daytime fatigue and dizziness.
• Rising slowly from sitting or lying positions can prevent dizziness or lightheadedness.
• Drinking plenty of fluids can help manage nausea and peripheral oedema.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Atenolol + Nifedipine may cause dizziness or lightheadedness. If you experience these effects, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• It is advised to consult a doctor before using Atenolol + Nifedipine during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This medicine may not be recommended unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with kidney disease need to exercise caution when taking Atenolol + Nifedipine. Patients with liver impairment should also use this medicine with caution as it may affect the medication's metabolism.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations
