How Cefixime + Clavulanic Acid works

  • Cefixime + Clavulanic Acid is a combination antibiotic.

  • Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, works by weakening the cell walls of bacteria. It stops the creation of peptidoglycan layers crucial for bacterial cell survival and growth, causing them to burst open and die.

  • Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It blocks the action of bacterial enzymes called beta-lactamases, which break down antibiotics. This allows cefixime to be effective against bacteria that would otherwise be resistant to it.
