• Ciclesonide comes in the form of a metered dose inhaler (MDI) for oral inhalation use.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• Ciclesonide is suitable for use in both adults and children aged 12 years and above.

Contraindications

• Ciclesonide is contraindicated in patients who have a known hypersensitivity to it or any of its components present in the formulation. It is also contraindicated for use as a rescue medication during sudden and severe asthma attacks.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Ciclesonide may interact with certain antifungal medications (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole) and HIV medications (e.g., ritonavir).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Overdosing of Ciclesonide may lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, agitation, depression, sleepiness or increased heart rate. If you suspect an overdose, seek immediate medical assistance.

• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of water can help manage dry mouth or throat.

• Gargling or rinsing your mouth after using the inhaler can help prevent oral fungal infections.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Ciclesonide does not usually affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you do experience side effects like dizziness or sleepiness, refrain from driving or operating heavy machinery until you feel better.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Inhaled corticosteroids like Ciclesonide are generally safe in pregnancy and lactation but should be used only if necessary and when the benefits outweigh the risks. Consult your doctor before taking this medication during pregnancy and lactation.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Ciclesonide should be used with caution in patients with existing fungal, bacterial, or viral infections as it may mask symptoms or worsen these conditions.
