Age and Dose Restrictions

• This combination is indicated for adults and children aged 12 years and older.

Contraindications

• Ciprofloxacin + Ornidazole is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin, Ornidazole, or any other quinolone or nitroimidazole antibiotics.
• The combination should not be used by individuals with a history of seizures, epilepsy, kidney or liver disease, myasthenia gravis (a neuromuscular disorder), prolonged QT interval, or other heart rhythm disorders.

Other Medications to Avoid

• This combination may interact with antacids (such as aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide), iron supplements (like ferrous sulfate and ferrous gluconate), multivitamins containing zinc or calcium (such as ferrous fumarate and ferrous gluconate), anticoagulants (like warfarin), and certain immunosuppressants (like cyclosporine).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• In the event of an overdose of Ciprofloxacin + Ornidazole, it is recommended to seek medical attention immediately.
• If a dose is missed, take the medication as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the usual schedule.

Management of Side Effects

Most adverse effects are temporary, generally harmless, and resolve after stopping this medicine. However, if you experience any severe adverse effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, it is recommended that you consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of fluids can help manage side effects such as nausea and vomiting.
• Rest and avoiding sudden movements can help manage dizziness.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Ciprofloxacin + Ornidazole may cause dizziness. Avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or performing any activities requiring mental alertness if you experience this side effect.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• It is generally not recommended to use Ciprofloxacin + Ornidazole during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, a doctor can best advise on its use during these periods based on the condition of an individual.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with kidney or liver disease should take Ciprofloxacin + Ornidazole with caution, as the medicine is metabolised in the liver and excreted through the kidneys.
