Uses of Cyclobenzaprine

  • Cyclobenzaprine is primarily used to relieve muscle spasms, pain and stiffness associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions. It belongs to the group of centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxants.
  • Additionally, it may be used to manage conditions such as neck or back strain/sprain, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, tension headaches, TMJ disorders, and injuries to muscles from accidents or falls.

How Cyclobenzaprine works

  • Cyclobenzaprine is a skeletal muscle relaxant.
  • It works by primarily targeting the brain stem, instead of acting directly on the skeletal muscles. It helps to decrease or lessen the activity of certain motor neurons in the brain that contribute to muscle tone and spasms.
