How Dorzolamide + Timolol works
Dorzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. It works by blocking the action of an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase II in the eye. This decreases the production of aqueous humour, a fluid in the eye that, when produced excessively, raises intraocular pressure (IOP). This action consequently reduces IOP.
Timolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor-blocking agent or beta-blocker. It works by blocking beta receptors in the eye, decreasing the production of aqueous humour and thereby reducing IOP (intraocular pressure).
