Eptifibatide is an anti-platelet medicine.
It works by blocking glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptors on platelets, preventing fibrinogen and other substances from causing clots. This reduces the risk of heart attacks or strokes by stopping platelets from sticking together. The effect is reversible, so platelet function normalizes after discontinuation of the medication.
