Fimasartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist.
It works by blocking the action of a substance called angiotensin II in the body. This substance narrows blood vessels and releases another substance called aldosterone, which causes the body to retain salt and water.
By inhibiting the binding of angiotensin II to its receptor, Fimasartan relaxes and widens blood vessels, leading to lower blood pressure. It also reduces the secretion of aldosterone, which results in less salt and water retention.
This helps to effectively control high blood pressure, reducing the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
