Halobetasol

Uses of Halobetasol

  • The primary use of Halobetasol is in managing inflammatory skin conditions, including eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and rashes. It belongs to the group of medicines known as topical corticosteroids.

  • Halobetasol is also used to manage plaque psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, severe psoriasis of the scalp, and chronic eczematous external otitis in patients above 18 years.

Side effects of Halobetasol

  • Burning sensation at the application site

  • Skin thinning

  • Redness and irritation

  • Dryness of skin

  • Itching

How Halobetasol works

  • Halobetasol is a potent corticosteroid.

  • It operates by attaching itself to corticosteroid receptors within skin cells. This triggers anti-inflammatory processes and puts a stop to the release of certain substances in your body that cause inflammation. As a result, it reduces swelling, redness, and itching in the area of the skin affected.
