Uses of Human Premix Insulin

  • Human premix insulin is used to control blood sugar/improve glycemic control in patients with Diabetes mellitus. It is a fixed ratio premix recombinant human insulin formulation for adult patients. 
  • It is also helpful in reducing the risk of developing a heart attack, stroke or other diabetes-related complications such as kidney failure, liver damage, eye problems and gum diseases.

  • Overdose of human premix insulin can cause hypoglycemia. Symptoms of hypoglycemia are confusion, palpitations, sweating, headache. Prompt management of an overdose is warranted. If hypoglycemia is mild, oral administration of glucose and sugar products will suffice. If hypoglycemia is severe it requires intramuscular or subcutaneous administration of glucagon followed by oral glucose, when the patient recovers.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

  • It may cause dizziness or blurred vision in some individuals. If you experience these side effects, avoid driving or operating machinery until they subside. 

Use In Pregnancy And Lactation

  • Caution is advised for use of Human Premix insulin in Pregnant and Lactating females.

Caution In Other Conditions

  • Patients with Liver and kidney disease need dose adjustment and more frequent blood glucose monitoring.
