Contraindications

• Ofloxacin + Racecadotril is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to either ofloxacin, racecadotril, or any other constituents of the quinolone antibacterial class.

• It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone use.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Ofloxacin + Racecadotril may interact with Class IA or III antiarrhythmics (eg., quinidine, procainamide, amiodarone, and sotalol), tricyclic antidepressants (eg., amitriptyline and nortriptyline), antipsychotics (eg., haloperidol and clozapine), and macrolides (eg., erythromycin and azithromycin).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of this medicine may result in serious side effects such as seizures, hallucinations, or severe diarrhoea. If you observe these symptoms, consult your doctor and follow their advice.

• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But, if it is time for your next dose skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing regime. Avoid repeating the dose.

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• For nausea or upset stomach, take the medicine with food.
