Hicks Digital Thermometer 1 is used for providing accurate temperature readings for adults and children, offering reliable results in just 20 seconds. • Accurate Temperature Monitoring: The Hicks Digital Thermometer is designed to provide precise and reliable temperature readings, ensuring accurate tracking of body temperature for individuals of all ages. This is crucial for monitoring potential fever or changes in body temperature, especially when assessing health conditions.

• Put a sanitary plastic probe shield on the sensor tip or disinfect the probe with alcohol. 
• Push the On/Off button located beside the display window/LCD. 
• The following will appear in quick succession on the display screen: The display will read 188°1 for 2 seconds and a beep sound will be heard simultaneously.
• The last measured temperature will be shown for about 2 seconds (memory feature).
• Then the LCD shows the self-test temperature of 98.6°F (37.0°C).
• Then Lo appears with the flashing F sign. 
• The digital thermometer is made to take temperature.
• Position the probe in the desired area:

Oral Use: 

• Closed the mouth for about 5 min before measurement.
• Place the thermometer probe tip under the tongue, marked(✓) as per the diagram. 
• Hold the thermometer in the same spot under the tongue for about 1 Minute Approx.
• Keep your mouth closed during this period.
• Reading will continue to increase and the °F symbol will flash during measurement.
• When the peak temperature is reached the °F (°C) symbol will stop flashing and the beeper will sound for approx 10 Sec. The temperature reading will not change after the unit is removed from the mouth.
• The tested temperature is shown on the LCD/Display.
• Switch off the unit by pressing the On/Off button after noting the temperature. However, to save power, the unit will automatically turn off in 10 minutes, in case you forget to turn it off.

Note:

• If the room temperature is higher than 32°C (90°F), the LCD will display the room temperature instead of "Lo°C" or "Lo°F."
• During or after the test, if the measured temperature is below 90.0°F (32°C), the display will show "Lo°F" or "Lo°C."
• If the measured temperature is excessively high, the display will show "Hi°F" or "Hi°C."
• After temperature measurement:

If the temperature is below 100°F (37.8°C), the beep sound will be a soft "Bi-Bi-Bi-Bi."

If the temperature is 100°F (37.8°C) or above, the beep sound will be louder and more frequent: "Bi-Bi-Bi...Bi-Bi-Bi...Bi-Bi-Bi."

• The mouth must remain closed during measurement to ensure an accurate reading.

Rectal Use: 

• Lubricate the probe with petroleum jelly for easy insertion. Gently insert the probe, about 1 centimetre (less than ½ inch) into the patient's rectum and keep for 1 minute approx. 

Axillary Use (Underarm):

• From a medical viewpoint, this method will always provide inaccurate reading. 
• Wipe the armpit with a dry towel. Place the probe (sensor) under the armpit touching skin (this area is called the axilla) and keep the arm firmly against the body side for about 1.5 minutes approx. 

• Read the information leaflet carefully before use.
• Do not drop the thermometer as it is not shockproof.
• Avoid bending the thermometer.
• Do not boil the probe.
• Do not store the thermometer in direct sunlight.
• Do not attempt to disassemble the thermometer, except when replacing the battery.
• If the thermometer's battery is low, replace it immediately.
• Keep the thermometer away from children when replacing the battery.
• Ensure the thermometer probe is sanitised before use for accurate results.
• Handle the thermometer carefully to avoid damage to the sensor or probe.
