Monocef-O CV Oral Suspension is used for managing the following health conditions in children:

• Upper Respiratory Tract Infections, including sore throat and tonsillitis

• Acute Bacterial Otitis Media, a type of middle ear infection

• Acute Bacterial Sinusitis, an inflammation of the sinuses caused by bacteria

• Lower Respiratory Tract Infections, such as pneumonia and chronic bronchitis

• Uncomplicated infections related to skin and its structures

• Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections, which affect parts of the urinary system.

Give Monocef-O CV Oral Suspension to your child as follows:

• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Use a spoon or cup to measure the exact quantity recommended by your doctor.

• Follow your doctor's advice on how long your child needs to take this medicine.

Monocef-O CV Oral Suspension comprises two active ingredients:

• Cefpodoxime Proxetil (100 mg): This ingredient is an orally administered product which transforms into the active antibiotic cefpodoxime in the intestine. Cefpodoxime works by disrupting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls' peptidoglycan layer, causing the bacteria to break apart and die.

• Clavulanic Acid (62.5 mg): This component acts as an inhibitor of β-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria. Clavulanic acid binds irreversibly to these enzymes, preventing them from breaking down cefpodoxime. This action extends cefpodoxime's antibiotic spectrum to include many β-lactamase-producing bacteria that would otherwise be resistant.

• Store the Monocef-O CV Oral Suspension in a cool, dry place at a temperature below 25°C.

• After mixing, you can keep it either at room temperature or in the fridge between 2°C to 8°C.

• Ensure the bottle is kept out of reach of children.

• Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids. This helps to prevent dehydration, which can occur if your child has diarrhea due to the infection.

• If your child has a respiratory tract infection, keep them away from smoky environments as it can make symptoms worse. This includes cigarette smoke or cooking fumes.
