The ease of treatment and the fact that it is usually less expensive are a few reasons why acne-ridden individuals look for quick and fast-acting treatment.

Handy tips for acne treatment

1. Ice

Ice cubes have effective anti-inflammatory properties. The acne lesions are typically red, painful, and accompanied by enlarged structures. When applied to acne, ice can help reduce the size of the lesions as well as their redness and pain. Just wrap a few ice cubes in a thin towel or plastic ziplock cover and rub on the acne for 10-15 minutes, ensuring you do not use ice for not more than 20 minutes.

2. Aspirin

In dermatology, all the uses of aspirin for the skin are not listed on the drug’s labels. Aspirin has been researched, and it is widely used for its effectiveness on the skin. Aspirin can be safely used in acne treatment.

Aspirin can be made into a paste by crushing the aspirin tablet in water and applying it as a paste. Too much aspirin is not advised as aspirin acts as a blood thinner.

3. Benzoyl Peroxide

As a topical treatment, benzoyl peroxide can be used as a fast cure for acne. It inhibits the growth of the acne-causing microorganism – Cutibacterium acnes. It is available in concentrations ranging from 2.5 to 10% as a face wash, leave-on, foam, gel etc. Do consult a physician on dosage and any allergy information.

4. Hydroxy acids

There are two types of hydroxy acids: alpha-hydroxy acids and beta-hydroxy acids. Alpha hydroxy acids are rich in glycolic, lactic, and citric acids. Both hydroxy acids are useful for treating acne. Hydroxy-based creams and gels are also available to treat acne. Edible foods like sour milk, lemon, etc., are used against acne treatment in the form of face masks or packs. Consult a physician about the dosage allergy information and requirements before using it.

5. Amla (Indian gooseberry)

Amla is rich in vitamin C and is good for the skin and treating acne. Just crush a fresh amla and apply the pulp to the affected area.

6. Neem

Neem is a natural blood purifier. It is part of many herbal formulations and is used to control blood sugar. For skin infections such as acne, grind the leaves into a smooth paste and apply it to the acne.

7. Tulsi leaves

Tulsi has antimicrobial properties and can be used to treat acne. To treat acne, crush a few leaves, grind them, and make a paste.
