Dosage Forms Available

• Aluminium Hydroxide + Magnesium + Oxetacaine is available for use via the oral route (suspension/syrup, tablet).

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is intended for use by adults.
• It can also be given to children above 12 years of age under the supervision of a healthcare provider.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
• It should not be used by patients with severe kidney problems as it might lead to the accumulation of magnesium in the body.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Aluminium Hydroxide + Magnesium + Oxetacaine may interact with certain antibiotics (such as tetracyclines and quinolones), heart medications (like digoxin), iron supplements, thyroid hormones, and fibre supplements (like psyllium).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of this medication may cause severe constipation or diarrhoea. If you suspect an overdose or experience these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double up the dose to make up for the missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• To manage nausea or vomiting, try taking this medication with a light snack or after meals.
• Constipation can be managed by drinking plenty of water throughout the day and including high-fibre foods in your diet.
• Diarrhoea can be managed by ensuring adequate hydration. Drink plenty of fluids to replace lost electrolytes.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• This medicine does not usually affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you feel dizzy or sleepy after taking this medication, avoid such activities until you feel completely alert.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their healthcare provider before using this medication.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with kidney problems, respiratory insufficiency, or hypophosphatemia (low phosphate levels) should exercise caution when taking this medication, as magnesium can accumulate in the body and cause adverse effects.

• Avoid trigger foods that may worsen your gastrointestinal symptoms. These might include spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol, or fatty foods.
• Stress may exacerbate gastrointestinal conditions. Practice stress-managing activities like yoga, meditation, or deep-breathing exercises.
• Regular physical activity can promote healthy digestion and alleviate some gastrointestinal symptoms.
