Ambroxol + Gatifloxacin

Uses of Ambroxol + Gatifloxacin

  • Ambroxol + Gatifloxacin is primarily used to manage acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, and other respiratory tract infections that are associated with abnormal mucus secretion and impaired mucus transport. It belongs to the group of mucolytics and fluoroquinolone antibiotics.

  • This medicine can also be used when these conditions are caused by bacteria that are susceptible to Gatifloxacin.

Side effects of Ambroxol + Gatifloxacin

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhoea

  • Abdominal pain

  • Dizziness

How Ambroxol + Gatifloxacin works

  • Ambroxol belongs to the mucolytic class of medicines. It works by reducing the thickness of mucus in the airways. This makes it easier to cough up the mucus, clearing the airways and helping you breathe more easily.

  • Gatifloxacin is an antibiotic. It stops the growth of bacteria by inhibiting two crucial bacterial enzymes - DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are involved in replicating, repairing, and recombining bacterial DNA. By blocking these enzymes, Gatifloxacin disrupts the DNA processes, leading to bacterial cell death.
