Dosage Forms Available

• Amlodipine + Olmesartan Medoxomil is available as oral tablets.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This combination is not recommended for use in children under 18 years.

Contraindications

• This medication should not be used by individuals with a known allergy to amlodipine, olmesartan, or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, due to the risk of injury or death to the developing fetus.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Avoid combining this medication with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics (spironolactone), NSAIDs (ibuprofen), lithium, or other antihypertensives, as it may alter the effect of the medication.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose may result in severe hypotension, dizziness, or fainting. Seek immediate medical help in case of overdose.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.

Management of Side Effects

• If dizziness or lightheadedness occurs, sit or lie down immediately and rise slowly to prevent falls. Swelling of feet or ankles can be managed by elevating the legs and reducing salt intake. Persistent or severe side effects should be reported to a doctor for possible dose adjustment or alternative treatment.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• This medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or performing tasks that require alertness until you understand how this medicine affects you.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• It is not recommended during pregnancy, especially after the first trimester, due to potential harm to the fetus. It is also not recommended during breastfeeding, as safety in lactating women is not well-established.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Caution is advised in patients with severe kidney or liver impairment, heart failure, electrolyte imbalance (especially high potassium), and those who are volume-depleted (due to diuretics or dehydration).

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• Limit sodium intake to help reduce blood pressure further.
• Eat heart-healthy foods like whole grains, leafy greens, lean proteins, and fruits rich in potassium (if not restricted).
• Monitor blood pressure regularly and maintain follow-ups with your healthcare provider.
