Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medication is meant for adults and children, but the dose for children depends on their age and weight. Advice from a doctor should be sought for child dosage.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its active ingredients. It’s also not suitable for newborns, premature infants, or children under 2 years old. Additionally, it should not be used by nursing mothers, people taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or those with severe high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, or overactive thyroid.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Ammonium Chloride + Chlorpheniramine Maleate + Sodium Citrate can interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (such as phenelzine and tranylcypromine), CNS depressants (such as barbiturates and benzodiazepines), antihypertensives (like prazosin and losartan), anticoagulants (such as warfarin, heparin), antacids/anti-diarrheal medicines containing aluminium/magnesium (like Maalox and Pepto-Bismol), and potassium-depleting medicines (like prednisone and furosemide).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of this medicine may cause nausea, vomiting, excessive thirst, headache, rapid breathing, and increasing drowsiness. These can progress to serious conditions such as severe acidosis (an imbalance in the body's pH levels), low potassium levels in the blood, toxic psychosis, seizures, episodes of stopped breathing during sleep, involuntary muscle contractions, and cardiovascular issues like irregular heart rhythms and potential collapse. If you observe these symptoms, inform your doctor and follow their advice.
• If you forget to take a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses to make up for the missed dose.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve after discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• To manage drowsiness or dizziness, avoid taking this medication during the day and take it before bedtime instead.
• For dry mouth, try drinking plenty of water or sucking on ice chips.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• This medication may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. If you experience these side effects, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until the effects subside.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Ammonium Chloride + Chlorpheniramine Maleate + Sodium Citrate should be used during pregnancy and lactation only if the potential benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risks to the fetus or infant. Always consult your doctor before using this medication while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Caution is advised in patients with asthma, increased intraocular pressure, hyperthyroidism, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and chronic lung diseases. Consult your doctor if you have these or other medical conditions before starting this medication.
