Cofton Expectorant 100ml

Cofton Expectorant is used for the following:

• Relief of cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation from colds or inhaled irritants

• Loosening of mucus, making coughs more productive and easier to expel

• Alleviating symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, and itchy, watery eyes due to allergies

• Managing upper respiratory tract infections where coughing and mucus are prevalent

Here's how to use Cofton Expectorant:

• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Measure the prescribed quantity with a precise millilitre measuring device.

• You can take this medicine with or without food.

• Please be aware that this medicine is sugar-based. If you have diabetes, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

• Store the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

• Consult your doctor for personalised advice on usage.

Cofton Expectorant is taken orally.

Cofton Expectorant contains three active ingredients which work synergistically for effective cough relief:

• Ammonium chloride (125 mg): This expectorant works by irritating the mucus membranes in your body. This action results in increased production of less viscous mucus that can be easily coughed out.

• Chlorpheniramine maleate (2.5 mg): As an antihistamine, chlorpheniramine maleate blocks the action of histamine, a substance released during allergic reactions. By doing so, it reduces allergy symptoms such as runny nose and sneezing that can trigger a cough.

• Sodium citrate (55 mg): This component acts as a mucolytic agent that helps break down thick mucus. Sodium citrate increases the pH of mucus, reducing its viscosity and making it easier to expel through coughing.

• Store Cofton Expectorant at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 25°C.

• Keep in a cool and dark place, away from direct light and moisture.

• Ensure the bottle is tightly sealed when not in use.

• Keep out of reach of children.

• Use before the expiry date printed on the packaging.

• Since Cofton Expectorant manages cough and cold symptoms, staying hydrated can help in thinning mucus and making it easier to expel. Drink plenty of fluids.

• Avoid exposure to cold weather as it can trigger or worsen cough. If necessary, wear warm clothing and avoid sudden temperature changes.
