Ceftriaxone

ANTIBIOTIC

Uses of Ceftriaxone

  • Ceftriaxone is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in various parts of the body, including the brain, lungs, ears, urinary tract, skin, and for conditions like Lyme disease and gonorrhea.
  • It’s also used before surgeries to prevent infections. Ceftriaxone works by killing bacteria or stopping their growth.

How Ceftriaxone works

  • Ceftriaxone comes into the Cephalosporin antibiotics category. It acts by blocking the synthesis of the bacterial protective coating (cell wall), which is crucial to the survival of the bacteria.
