Monocef 1g Injection 1

Monocef 1g Injection is used to treat severe bacterial infections affecting the lungs, brain, blood, urinary tract, abdomen, skin, bones, joints, and chest. It is also prescribed for pelvic inflammatory disease, Lyme disease, and infections in immunocompromised patients, helping control serious and life-threatening bacterial conditions.

Administer Monocef 1 g Injection as follows:

• The injection can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly. IV infusion is administered over 30 minutes.
• Always consult your doctor for specific instructions on how to use this medicine.
• Refer to pack insert for reconstitution and administration.
• The reconstituted solution should be used immediately after preparation.
• If any particle is visible in the vial after dissolving the contents, please do not use the
• solution.

Monocef 1 g Injection is administered intravenously or intramuscularly.

Monocef 1 g Injection contains ceftriaxone (1000 mg), which works in the body as follows:

• Inhibits Cell Wall Formation: Ceftriaxone operates by inhibiting an enzyme called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) in bacteria. PBPs are critical in forming and reshaping bacterial cell walls.
• Destroys Bacteria: By blocking PBPs, ceftriaxone disrupts the formation of peptidoglycan chains that are essential for bacterial cell wall strength and rigidity. This weakens the cell wall and causes the bacteria to burst due to osmotic pressure eventually.

• Keep the Monocef 1 g Injection in a cool, dry place where the temperature does not exceed 30°C.
• Always ensure that the medicine is out of reach of children.

• If you're prescribed Monocef 1 g Injection for respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, try to avoid exposure to smoke, dust, and other pollutants that can worsen your symptoms.
• If you're using this medicine for urinary tract infections, ensure you drink plenty of fluids. This helps flush bacteria out of your urinary system, aiding your recovery.
