The primary use of Clindamycin + Clotrimazole + Metronidazole is to manage vaginal infections such as bacterial vaginosis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, and trichomoniasis. This combination belongs to the group of lincosamide antibiotics, azole antifungals, and nitroimidazole antibiotics.
Additionally, it is indicated for mixed vaginal infections involving multiple pathogens which contribute to various vaginal discharge syndromes.
Vaginal irritation
Mild headache
Nausea
Metallic taste in mouth
Vaginal dryness
Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic. It slows down bacterial growth by stopping bacterial protein synthesis, which helps in managing anaerobic bacterial and some protozoan infections.
Clotrimazole is an azole antifungal. It works by obstructing the synthesis of ergosterol, a significant component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption leads to fungal cell death, thereby managing the fungal infection.
Metronidazole is a nitroimidazole antibiotic. It selectively targets and blocks nucleic acid synthesis in susceptible organisms, effectively managing infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites.
Used together, these medicines provide comprehensive coverage against the mixed bacteria and fungi often responsible for vaginal infections.
