• Dexrabeprazole + Domperidone can be taken orally (tablet).

Age and Dose Restrictions

• Dexrabeprazole + Domperidone is intended for use by adults and is not recommended in children below 12 years of age.

Contraindications

• Dexrabeprazole + Domperidone should not be given to patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.

• It is also contraindicated in patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical blockage or perforation, liver failure, pheochromocytoma (a rare tumour that grows in an adrenal gland), prolactinoma (a noncancerous tumour of the pituitary gland), and QTc prolongation (an extended interval between the heart contracting and relaxing) or ventricular arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythms).

Other Medications to Avoid

• Dexrabeprazole + Domperidone can interact with anticonvulsants (e.g., diazepam, warfarin, phenytoin), antiretrovirals (e.g., ketoconazole, atazanavir, nelfinavir, saquinavir), and cardiac glycoside (e.g., digoxin).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Overdose may intensify side effects. Symptoms can include confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, flushing, dry mouth, heart palpitations and ECG changes like QT prolongation. If you suspect an overdose, you should seek medical attention immediately.

• If you miss a dose of Dexrabeprazole + Domperidone, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of water can help manage headaches and constipation.

• Eating smaller, more frequent meals can help manage nausea, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain.

• Resting in a quiet, dimly lit room can aid in managing dizziness.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Dexrabeprazole + Domperidone may cause side effects such as dizziness or sleepiness. If you experience these side effects, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Dexrabeprazole + Domperidone falls under Pregnancy Category C and should be used during pregnancy only if potential benefits outweigh risks to the fetus. Always consult your doctor before using this combination.

• Breastfeeding is not recommended when taking this medication due to Domperidone being excreted in breast milk. Always check with you doctor before consuming this medicine.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Dexrabeprazole + Domperidone should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment (when the liver is unable to perform normal functions), hypokalemia (low potassium), hypomagnesemia (magnesium deficiency), osteoporosis (bone mineral disease), renal impairment (abnormal kidney functions), and those at risk for C. difficile infection.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• Avoid foods that can trigger heartburn or acid reflux.

• Avoid lying down immediately after eating; wait at least 2 hours post meals.

• Try to avoid smoking as nicotine can relax the lower esophageal sphincter (muscles at the bottom of the food pipe) which can cause acid reflux.
