Age and Dose Restrictions

•  This combination is intended to be used by adults only.

Contraindications

•  This combination is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to drotaverine or mefenamic acid, patients with pre-existing asthma, aspirin-sensitive asthma, and during coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.

Medications to Avoid with This Drug

• Avoid taking antacids, antiarrhythmics (digoxin), diuretics, anticoagulants (warfarin), immunosuppressive medications (methotrexate), antihypertensives, chemotherapy such as pemetrexed, other NSAIDs (aspirin), muscarinic antagonists (atropine), antiparkinson agents (levopoda), and antidepressants such as diazepam. These medications may alter the safety and effectiveness of this combination.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Overdose can cause lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, weakness, dizziness, headache, a drop in blood pressure and sleepiness. These symptoms need to be managed as an emergency in a hospital setting. Therefore, strict adherence to the prescribed dose is essential.
• If you miss a dose of this combination, take it as soon as you remember, but if the next dose is near, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dosing regime.

Management of Side Effects

• Take this combination with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects and continue taking it as prescribed. If side effects worsen or persist, consult your doctor for a possible treatment plan adjustment.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

• This combination can cause dizziness and drowsiness. It is not recommended to drive, operate machinery, or do other activities that require mental alertness or coordination after taking this combination. 

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• This combination is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Caution is advised in older adults and patients with heart conditions, hypertension, hypotension, congestive heart failure and odema, active ulceration/bleeding, inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract and kidney and liver impairment.

• Avoid alcohol consumption, as it may increase the risk of gastrointestinal irritation and other adverse effects.
• Take this combination only for the prescribed duration.
• Engage in regular, low-impact exercises such as walking, swimming, or cycling to improve flexibility and strengthen muscles.
• Consider incorporating probiotics into your diet to promote a healthy balance of gut bacteria and potentially reduce symptoms.
• Reduce consumption of caffeine, as these can exacerbate IBS symptoms.
