Contraindications

Other Medications to Avoid

• Lamivudine + Zidovudine can interact with nephrotoxic agents (such as gentamicin and amphotericin B), hepatotoxic agents (like isoniazid and rifampicin), and medicines that cause hematologic toxicity (including ganciclovir, interferon-alfa, ribavirin, and various chemotherapy agents).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of Lamivudine + Zidovudine may not result in any specific symptoms beyond those listed as adverse reactions. However, if you suspect an overdose, it is crucial to seek medical attention immediately.

• If you miss a dose of this medication, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• If you experience nausea or diarrhoea, taking the medication with food might help.

• Rest and avoid physical exertion if you feel fatigued.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Lamivudine + Zidovudine may cause dizziness or fatigue. If you experience these symptoms, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Lamivudine + Zidovudine should be avoided during pregnancy unless necessary. Breastfeeding is not recommended while taking this medication. Always consult your doctor before using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with renal impairment should exercise caution when taking Lamivudine + Zidovudine. Dose adjustments may be necessary for these patients.
