  • Levosulpiride and pantoprazole are gastrointestinal agents.
  • Levosulpiride acts as a prokinetic agent, making your stomach and intestines work better and move food along more smoothly. The symptoms of bloating, indigestion, and reflux (acid coming back up from your stomach) can be reduced.
  • Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor or PPI that reduces the acid produced in your stomach. It improves heartburn and discomfort caused by excess stomach acid.

  • Levosulpiride + Pantoprazole can be taken orally (tablet and capsule).

Age And Dose Restrictions 

  • This combination is intended to be used by adults above 18 years. 

Contraindications 

  • This combination is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to levosulpiride or pantoprazole or any other proton pump inhibitor medicines.

Medications To Avoid With This Drug

  • Avoid taking antacids containing aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide, gastrointestinal protectants (sucralfate), other prokinetic agents such as (cisapride), anticholinergics (atropine, scopolamine and homatropine), dopamine agonists (levodopa), loop diuretic (furosemide), antiarrhythmics (digoxin and quinidine), antihistamines (terfenadine), antimalarials (chloroquine), immunosuppressants (tacrolimus and mycophenolate mofetil), antifungal agents (ketoconazole and itraconazole), antihypertensives and anticoagulants (warfarin). These medications may alter the safety and effectiveness of Levosulpiride + Pantoprazole.

Overdose And Missed Dose

  • Overdose can cause anxiety, confusion, and hypotension. These symptoms need to be managed as an emergency in a hospital setting. Therefore, strict adherence to the prescribed dose is essential.
  • If you miss a dose of this combination, take it as soon as you remember. But, if the next dose is near, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dosing regime.

Management Of Side Effects

  • If you experience dizziness, sit or lie down when you feel dizzy to prevent falls or accidents. Avoid sudden changes in position, such as standing up quickly from a sitting or lying position. If the dizziness is severe or persistent, consult your doctor.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

  • This combination can make you feel dizzy. It is not recommended to drive, operate machinery, or do other activities requiring mental alertness or coordination after this combination. 

Use In Pregnancy And Lactation

  • This combination is not recommended during pregnancy. Caution is advised while taking this combination during breastfeeding.

Caution In Other Conditions

  • Caution is advised in older adults and patients with heart conditions, severe diarrhoea, systemic lupus erythematosus (a chronic autoimmune disease), osteoporosis, vitamin B12 deficiency, hypomagnesemia, gastrointestinal bleeding, intestinal obstruction, hypertension, history of breast cancer, history of neuroendocrine tumour and severe kidney & liver impairment.

Special Dietary And Lifestyle Recommendation

  • This combination is typically recommended for short-term use to manage GERD symptoms. The prolonged use of this combination should not be done without consulting a doctor. 
  • Avoid alcohol, as drinking alcohol makes your stomach produce more acid than usual. It can irritate your stomach lining and make your symptoms worse.
  • Long-term use of proton pump inhibitors may be associated with a risk of decreased calcium absorption. Ensure an adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D, either through diet or supplements, under the guidance of your doctor.
  • Finish your last meal or snack at least two to three hours before bed. It allows the stomach to empty partially, reducing the likelihood of acid reflux while lying down.
  • Eat smaller, frequent meals instead of large meals. It helps reduce the amount of food in the stomach, decreasing the likelihood of acid reflux.
