Lisinopril

Uses of Lisinopril

  • Lisinopril is primarily used to manage high blood pressure and belongs to the class of medicines known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.

  • Secondarily, Lisinopril is also used to improve survival after a heart attack and in the management of heart failure.

Side effects of Lisinopril

  • Headache

  • Dizziness

  • Fatigue

  • Persistent dry cough

  • Nausea

How Lisinopril works

  • Lisinopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor.

  • It operates by inhibiting the ACE enzyme, which is responsible for converting angiotensin I to angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a substance that narrows blood vessels and increases blood pressure. By blocking the production of angiotensin II, Lisinopril helps relax and widen blood vessels, reducing the pressure on the heart and lowering blood pressure.
