Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is meant for adult use only.

Contraindications

• Losartan + Ramipril is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this product.
• It is contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitors or ARB therapy.
• Those with renal artery stenosis should not use this medicine.
• Patients who have diabetes are also advised against using this combination.

Other Medications to Avoid

• This combination may interact with diuretics (such as furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide), potassium supplements/potassium-sparing diuretics (such as spironolactone and triamterene), non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines or NSAIDs (including ibuprofen, naproxen), lithium, and other medications that inhibit the renin-angiotensin system (such as aliskiren).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of Losartan + Ramipril could result in dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and fast or slow heartbeat. If you observe any of these symptoms, contact your doctor and follow their advice.
• If you miss a dose of Losartan + Ramipril, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• For dizziness or lightheadedness, it might help to lie down until these symptoms pass. Ensure you rise slowly from sitting or lying positions.
• If experiencing mild diarrhoea, ensure adequate fluid intake to avoid dehydration.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• This medication may affect your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery. Avoid driving if you feel dizzy or sleepy after taking this medication.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Losartan + Ramipril is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If pregnancy is detected, discontinue the medicine as soon as possible due to the risk of fetal harm.
• Consult your doctor before using this medicine during pregnancy and lactation.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with impaired renal function should exercise caution when taking Losartan + Ramipril. It is advised to monitor renal function periodically.
• Similarly, individuals with significant heart conditions should use this medicine cautiously.

• Maintain a balanced diet low in sodium; high salt intake may counteract the blood pressure-lowering effect of Losartan + Ramipril.
• Include potassium-rich foods like bananas and spinach cautiously; excessive potassium can be harmful when taking this medication due to its potential effect on increasing serum potassium levels.
• Regular physical activity can help lower blood pressure further when used alongside medication.
• Limit alcohol consumption – excessive drinking can elevate blood pressure and reduce the effectiveness of blood pressure medication.
• Manage stress through relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation as chronic stress can contribute to higher blood pressure.
