Naphazoline + Phenylephrine primarily provides relief from redness, puffiness, itching and watering of the eyes due to minor eye irritations, and falls under the category of decongestant medications.
This combination is also used to alleviate discomfort and minor irritation in the eyes caused by factors such as dust, smoke, smog, pollen, ragweed, grass, animal hair and dander, swimming, wearing contact lenses, common cold, hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies.
Temporary burning or stinging of the eye
Increased redness of the eye
Blurred vision
Headache or dizziness
Nervousness or drowsiness
Naphazoline + Phenylephrine is a combination of two decongestant medications.
Naphazoline works by acting on the alpha receptors in the eyes, specifically in the conjunctival blood vessels. This causes them to constrict, which reduces redness and relieves minor eye irritation.
Phenylephrine also acts on the alpha receptors within the eye, causing vasoconstriction or narrowing of blood vessels. Additionally, it contracts the dilator muscle of the pupil, causing dilation of the pupil (mydriasis).
