The main use of Olopatadine is for managing the symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis and allergic rhinitis. It belongs to the class of medicines known as antihistamines and mast cell stabilisers.
Apart from managing eye and nasal allergies, Olopatadine is also used for the prevention of ocular itching caused by allergies.

Olopatadine is an antihistamine and mast cell stabiliser.
It works by selectively blocking histamine H1 receptors, which prevents histamine from initiating allergic reactions and symptoms. Additionally, Olopatadine inhibits the release of histamine and other substances that promote inflammation from mast cells. This dual action effectively intercepts the allergic response process in both the eyes and the nose, providing rapid and lasting relief from symptoms.
