Alkasol 1.4 GM Syrup 200 ML

Alkasol Syrup is used for the following:

• Preventing and managing gout and high levels of uric acid in the blood

• Making urine more alkaline to help dissolve certain types of kidney stones such as uric acid, cystine and calcium oxalate stones

• Correcting metabolic acidosis in a condition called distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA)

• Providing relief from symptoms like burning during urination, caused by urinary tract infections

Take Alkasol Syrup as follows:

• Use a suitable measuring cup or spoon to get the correct dose as directed by the doctor.

• Dilute your dose in a glass of water before taking it.

• It can be taken with or without food, but having it with meals might lessen stomach upset.

• Remember to close the bottle tightly after use.

Alkasol Syrup is taken orally.

Alkasol Syrup contains disodium hydrogen citrate (1.4 GM). Here's how it works:

• Urine Alkalinisation: The active ingredient in Alkasol Syrup metabolised into bicarbonate once ingested. This increases the pH of your urine, making it more alkaline.

• Increased Solubility: The alkalinisation process enhances the solubility of uric acid, cystine and calcium oxalate, thus preventing them from forming stones in your kidneys.

• Stone Dissolution: Besides preventing stone formation, Alkasol Syrup also promotes the dissolution of existing uric acid and cystine stones.

• Uric Acid Excretion: The medicine reduces tubular reabsorption and increases renal excretion of uric acid which helps lower blood uric acid levels in people with gout.

• Metabolic Acidosis Correction: In cases of distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA), Alkasol Syrup replenishes bicarbonate stores, helping to correct metabolic acidosis.

• Store Alkasol Syrup at room temperature, ideally between 15°C to 30°C.

• Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Always ensure the bottle is tightly closed after use.

• Remember to keep Alkasol Syrup out of reach of children.

• If you're taking Alkasol Syrup for gout or kidney stones related to high uric acid levels, aim to limit intake of purine-rich foods such as red meat, seafood, and alcoholic beverages. These can increase uric acid in your body.

• As Alkasol Syrup is used to manage kidney stones, it's beneficial to stay well-hydrated by drinking ample water regularly. This helps dilute the substances that can form stones in the kidneys.
