Altacef Suspension 30ml

Altacef Suspension is used for managing the following conditions in children:

• Upper respiratory tract infections such as tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media

• Lower respiratory tract infections like bronchitis and pneumonia

• Uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections

• Simple urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Early stages of Lyme disease

• Preventing infection in case of animal or human bites

• Prophylactic use before some surgical procedures to avoid postoperative infection

Altacef Suspension should be given to your child as follows:

• Shake the bottle well before each use.

• Measure the exact quantity recommended by your doctor using a spoon or cup.

• Follow your doctor's advice on the frequency and duration for giving this medicine.

• Altacef Suspension can be given with or without food. However, giving it with meals can improve absorption and reduce chances of stomach upset.

Altacef Suspension is given orally.

Altacef Suspension contains cefuroxime (125 mg) and operates in the following ways:

• Disrupts Bacterial Cell Wall Synthesis: Cefuroxime impedes the formation of bacterial cell walls by binding to and deactivating enzymes called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). These enzymes are vital for constructing and maintaining cell walls.

• Halts Bacterial Growth: Without a stable cell wall, bacteria cannot survive or multiply. By destabilising these walls, cefuroxime effectively halts the spread of infection in your child's body.

• Store the Altacef Suspension below 30°C, in a cool and dry place.

• Keep the suspension away from direct sunlight to maintain its efficacy.

• Remember to keep it out of your child's reach at all times.

• Store the Altacef Suspension in a refrigerator and use it within 7 days.

• Ensure your child drinks plenty of fluids to help flush out urinary tract infections, which can be managed by Altacef Suspension.

• For children dealing with respiratory infections, maintaining a smoke-free environment can aid recovery. Smoke can irritate the airways and make symptoms worse.
