Amlokind L Tablet 10

Amlokind-L Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing hypertension or high blood pressure

• Lowering the risk of stroke in patients with a combination of high blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy, a condition where the main pumping chamber of your heart gets thickened and may not pump properly

• Slowing down the progression of diabetic kidney disease in patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and hypertension

• Take the tablet orally with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet. It should be swallowed whole.

• Do not take more than what your doctor has recommended for you.

• Remember, it's important not to stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor first.

Amlokind-L Tablet works effectively due to the combined action of its two active ingredients:

• Amlodipine (5 mg): This ingredient is a calcium channel blocker. It works by obstructing the movement of calcium ions into the smooth muscle cells of your blood vessels and heart. By doing so, it helps relax your blood vessels, thereby lowering your peripheral vascular resistance and reducing your blood pressure.

• Losartan (50 mg): Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker. It selectively prevents angiotensin II from binding to certain receptors in your body. This action inhibits the narrowing of blood vessels and reduces the secretion of aldosterone, a hormone that can increase blood pressure. As a result, it helps widen your blood vessels, decrease your blood pressure, and reduce the retention of sodium and fluid in your body.
