Augmentin DDS Suspension is primarily used to manage bacterial infections in the ear, nose, throat, bone, soft tissue, joints and urinary tract infection in children. It will be ineffective in the treatment of viral infections such as common cold or flu.
This suspension is also used to manage recurrent tonsillitis, sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, lobar pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, cystitis, animal bites and dental infections. It is an antibiotic medication that combines two active ingredients, amoxicillin and clavulanic acid.
Before starting Augmentin DDS Suspension, the doctor must know your child’s medical history, allergies, and how they have reacted to antibiotics. The doctor will decide how much medicine to give and how long to take it based on the child’s age, weight, the chance of side effects, and the specific infection. This helps ensure the medicine works well and is safe for the child.
