Cellcept Tablet is used for the following conditions:

• Preventing organ rejection after a kidney transplant

• Reducing the risk of organ rejection following a heart transplant

• Decreasing chances of liver transplant rejection

Here are the steps to follow while taking a Cellcept Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew, or cut the tablet.

• Take the medicine on an empty stomach, either 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.

• Always adhere to your doctor's prescribed dose, and never take more without consulting your doctor.

• It's crucial not to stop taking this medicine abruptly. Always consult your doctor before discontinuing.

Cellcept Tablet is taken orally.

Cellcept Tablet contains mycophenolate mofetil (500 mg), and its activity in your body can be summarised as follows:

• Conversion to active metabolite: After you take Cellcept Tablet orally, it gets quickly transformed into an active metabolite called mycophenolic acid (MPA).

• Inhibition of IMPDH: MPA acts as a potent inhibitor of an enzyme called inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH). IMPDH plays a pivotal role in the production of certain substances required for DNA synthesis.

• Suppression of immune response: By inhibiting IMPDH, MPA reduces these substances in T and B lymphocytes (types of white blood cells). This action suppresses their growth and function, leading to a weakened immune response against the transplanted organ.

• Store Cellcept Tablet at room temperature, ideally not above 25°C.

• Keep the medicine in its original container to protect it from light.

• Make sure the storage area is out of reach of children.

• Always use your medicine before its expiry date.
