Ceruvin AF Capsule is used for managing the following conditions:

• Lowering the combined risk of death and nonfatal stroke in patients who have had a stroke due to a blood clot

• Reducing the combined risk of death and nonfatal heart attack in patients with a previous heart attack or unstable chest pain

• Lowering the risk of heart attack and sudden death in patients with long-term stable chest pain

• Preventing blood clot formation in patients who have undergone heart bypass surgery or balloon angioplasty to open up blocked arteries

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the capsule.

• Always follow your doctor's instructions on how to take this medicine. Don't alter the dosage without consulting your doctor.

Ceruvin AF Capsule is taken orally.

Ceruvin AF Capsule contains two active ingredients that work together to prevent blood clot formation:

• Aspirin (150 mg): Aspirin works by irreversibly inhibiting an enzyme called cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1). This enzyme is responsible for the production of thromboxane A2, which stimulates platelets to stick together. By reducing the production of thromboxane A2, aspirin prevents platelets from sticking together, reducing the risk of blood clot formation.

• Clopidogrel (75 mg): Clopidogrel is a "prodrug", which means it needs to be metabolised by your body to become active. Once metabolised, it prevents the binding of a molecule called adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its receptor on the platelet surface, thereby inhibiting platelet aggregation and reducing the risk of blood clot formation.

Together, these two ingredients effectively reduce the risk of blood clot formation, thereby lowering the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular events.
