Enam 2.5 Tablet is used for the following health conditions:

• Reducing high blood pressure, also known as hypertension

• Managing symptoms of congestive heart failure, often in combination with other medications such as diuretics and digitalis

• Preventing symptomatic heart failure in individuals with left ventricular dysfunction where the ejection fraction is 35% or less.

Enam 2.5 Tablet contains enalapril (2.5 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Conversion into Active Form: Enalapril is inactive when ingested and then converted into its active form, enalaprilat, inside your body.

• ACE Inhibition: Enalaprilat inhibits an enzyme in your body called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). This enzyme usually converts a hormone called angiotensin I into another hormone called angiotensin II, which narrows (or constricts) your blood vessels and stimulates aldosterone secretion, a hormone that increases salt and water retention in your body.

• Lower Blood Pressure: By inhibiting ACE, enalapril reduces levels of angiotensin II and aldosterone, leading to widened blood vessels (vasodilation), lower blood pressure, and decreased water and salt retention.
