Composition

Formoterol Fumarate (6 Mcg) + Glycopyrrolate / Glycopyrronium (25 Mcg)

Forglyn Respicap is primarily used for the long-term management of airflow obstruction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This combination medicine belongs to two classes of medicines - long-acting beta2-adrenergic receptor agonists (LABAs) and long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMAs).

In addition to managing COPD, this medicine can also help manage symptoms related to chronic bronchitis and emphysema. However, this medicine is not recommended for the relief of sudden breathing problems or the treatment of asthma.

Before you start taking this medicine, consult your doctor about any pre-existing conditions or ongoing medications. Inhalation of the capsule contents is required, using the prescribed inhaler device.

Forglyn Respicap contains two components:

Formoterol Fumarate (6 mcg): As a LABA, formoterol fumarate triggers a process inside cells that helps relax the muscles around your airways. This process involves an enzyme called adenyl cyclase and leads to wider airways and easier breathing. Formoterol fumarate has a greater affinity for beta2-adrenoceptors than beta1-adrenoceptors, which are different types of receptors in your body.
Glycopyrrolate (25 mcg): Functioning as a LAMA, glycopyrrolate blocks a substance called acetylcholine from acting on specific receptors known as muscarinic receptors found in your lung muscles. This action leads to a widening of the airways, improving airflow and making it easier for you to breathe. Glycopyrrolate binds particularly well to M3 muscarinic receptors and remains attached for longer periods.

Pregnancy

Caution is advised while taking Forglyn Respicap if you are pregnant. It is best to consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Breastfeeding

Alcohol
