Glycomet-GP 2/850 Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise alone don't suffice

• Complementing diet and physical activity to control blood sugar levels

• Working in synergy with a single-agent therapy that isn't effective by itself

Here's how you should take Glycomet-GP 2/850 Tablet :

• Swallow the tablet whole with a meal, don't chew or crush it.

• Take the tablet around the same time each day, ideally with breakfast or the first main meal.

Glycomet-GP 2/850 Tablet contains two active ingredients that work together to manage blood sugar levels:

• Glimepiride (2 mg): This component belongs to the sulfonylurea class of antidiabetic medicines. It works by stimulating the pancreas to secrete more insulin, which helps to lower blood glucose levels. By binding to specific receptors on the pancreatic beta cells, glimepiride prompts them to release insulin. It also enhances the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin, promoting better glucose uptake and utilisation.

• Metformin (850 mg): Classified as a biguanide antidiabetic agent, metformin acts through several mechanisms. It decreases glucose production in the liver, increases insulin sensitivity in the body's tissues, improving glucose uptake and utilisation, and delays glucose absorption from the intestines.

• Store Glycomet-GP 2/850 Tablet at a cool temperature, ideally below 30°C.
