Hep Lock Injection is used for the following conditions:

• Managing deep vein thrombosis, which are blood clots in the legs

• Preventing and addressing pulmonary embolism, which is when blood clots travel to the lungs

• Reducing the risk of blood clot formation in the heart post a heart attack or due to angina, a condition where chest pain occurs because the heart isn't getting enough blood

• Preventing blood clot formation in intravenous catheters that are in place for extended periods

Administer Hep Lock Injection as suggested below:

• Ensure that Hep Lock Injection is administered only by a trained medical professional in a clinical setting.

• Remember that this medication should never be given via the muscle. It needs to be administered either under the skin (subcutaneous) or directly into a vein (intravenous).

Hep Lock Injection is administered either subcutaneously or intravenously.

Hep Lock Injection contains Heparin (10 IU), which works on your body in various ways:

• Enhances Antithrombin III Activity: Heparin in Hep Lock Injection boosts the activity of antithrombin III, a natural substance in your body that inhibits activated clotting factors like thrombin and factor Xa. This action prevents fibrinogen from converting to fibrin, thereby limiting clot formation.

• Inhibits Intrinsic Clotting Pathway: Heparin suppresses the activation of factor IX by factor XIa, which are crucial stages in the intrinsic clotting pathway. This additional layer of inhibition further reduces the risk of clot formation.

• Interferes with Platelet Aggregation: Heparin obstructs platelet aggregation, which is the process of platelets clumping together to form clots. This helps in reducing the formation of platelet plugs that contribute to clot formation.

• Store Hep Lock Injection between 15 to 25°C.

• Keep it protected from light and moisture.

• Ensure the medicine is out of children's reach.
