Lacotide 200 Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing partial-onset seizures in patients with epilepsy

• As an additional medicine in treating partial-onset seizures when other medicines are not enough

• As a primary medicine in treating partial-onset seizures when no other medicine is being taken.

• Make sure to swallow the tablet whole, without breaking, cutting, or chewing it.

Lacotide 200 Tablet contains a single active ingredient, Lacosamide (200 mg), which acts on the body in the following ways:

• Inactivating Voltage-Gated Sodium Channels: Lacosamide works by blocking certain types of channels in the nerve cells of your brain. These channels, known as voltage-gated sodium channels, are responsible for generating electrical signals in the nerve cells. By inactivating these channels, Lacosamide effectively dampens the abnormal electrical activity in the brain.

• Stabilising Nerve Cell Activity: Apart from inactivating sodium channels, Lacosamide also works to stabilise the overall electrical activity of nerve cells. This action further helps in controlling and preventing seizures by reducing the erratic and excessive activity of the nerve cells.
