Lanum Tablet 10

Lanum Tablet is used for the following:

• Lowering high blood phosphate levels in end-stage renal disease patients on dialysis

• Decreasing phosphate absorption from the diet in the body

• Maintaining phosphate balance to prevent complications associated with hyperphosphatemia

• Supporting bone health as an adjunct treatment for osteoporosis and other bone disorders where increased calcium intake is required.

• Strictly follow the dosage and timing instructions provided by your doctor for this medication.

• Do not change or exceed the prescribed dose without your doctor's approval.

• Consult your doctor before discontinuing this medication; do not stop taking it without their guidance.

• Adhere to the dietary recommendations given by your doctor.

Lanum Tablet is taken orally.

Lanum Tablet contains calcium acetate (667 mg), which works on your body as follows:

• Binds with Dietary Phosphate: Calcium acetate combines with dietary phosphate present in the gastrointestinal tract when taken along with meals.

• Forms Insoluble Complexes: The interaction between calcium acetate and dietary phosphate results in the formation of insoluble calcium phosphate complexes.

• Reduces Phosphate Absorption: These insoluble complexes are not absorbed by your body but excreted out in stool. As a result, it reduces the absorption of phosphate from food.

• Decreases Blood Phosphate Levels: By reducing intestinal absorption of phosphate, calcium acetate effectively lowers serum phosphate levels in the blood.

• Store Lanum Tablet at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 25°C.

• Keep away from direct light and moisture to maintain its efficacy.

• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Check the package for the expiry date and use before it.

• Avoid consuming large amounts of calcium-rich foods and drinks, as excess calcium can lead to health issues.

• Reduce intake of foods high in oxalic acid like spinach, rhubarb, and sweet potatoes which may decrease calcium absorption.
