Looz Oral Solution is used for the following:

• Managing constipation: This medicine helps soften stools, making them easier to pass.

• Hepatic encephalopathy: In severe liver dysfunction, there is the toxic build-up of ammonia, which affects the way your brain functions. Lactulose reduces the production and uptake of ammonia in the intestine, limiting its activity in the body.

Take Looz Oral Solution as follows:

• Ensure you measure out the correct dose of the solution using a spoon or cup.

• It's best to take this medicine with meals, as directed by your doctor.

• Ensure you seal the bottle tightly after each use.

Looz Oral Solution is taken orally.

Looz Oral Solution contains lactulose (10 g/15 ml) and operates in your body through the following mechanisms:

• Unchanged Reaching: Lactulose reaches the colon largely unchanged. This means that it retains its original form until it gets to the colon where it starts working.

• Conversion into Acids: In the colon, bacteria break down lactulose into lactic acid and small amounts of formic and acetic acids. These acids increase the osmotic pressure and slightly acidify the colon.

• Increasing Stool Water Content: The increased osmotic pressure and slight acidification cause an increase in stool water content. This helps soften stools, making them easier to pass.

• Elimination of Ammonia: It favours the use of ammonia by colonic bacteria, converting it to safer ammonium which is excreted. Lactulose also decreases the production of ammonia by gut bacteria, through the acidic pH.

• Store Looz Oral Solution at room temperature not exceeding 30°C.

• It is best kept in its original amber glass bottle to protect it from light.

• Keep it out of the reach of children.

• If you have any leftover solution after 30 days of opening the bottle, discard it safely.

• To support the effectiveness of Looz Oral Solution in managing constipation, increase your intake of water and dietary fibre. This could include adding whole grains, fruits, and vegetables to your diet.

• Regular physical activity is also helpful in preventing constipation. Consider moderate exercises like brisk walking or swimming for at least 30 minutes a day.
