Lopid Capsule is used for the following:

• Managing high levels of bad cholesterol, known as LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein).

• Regulating excessive triglyceride levels in your blood.

• Boosting good cholesterol levels, also termed as HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein).

• Used in combination with statins to lower the risk of heart disease in patients with raised lipid levels.

Follow these steps when taking Lopid Capsule:

• Always swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water.

• Avoid crushing, chewing, or opening the capsule.

• Consult your doctor for specific guidance on how to use this medicine.

Lopid Capsule is taken orally.

Lopid Capsule contains gemfibrozil (300 mg) and works in your body as follows:

• Stimulates Lipoprotein Lipase Activity: Gemfibrozil stimulates the activity of an enzyme called lipoprotein lipase. This enzyme is responsible for breaking down triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, effectively lowering your triglyceride levels.

• Inhibits VLDL Production: Gemfibrozil also acts on your liver, inhibiting the synthesis of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL). This reduces the production of triglycerides in your body.

• Increases HDL Cholesterol Production: Finally, gemfibrozil increases the production of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. This "good" cholesterol helps to remove excess cholesterol from your body.

• Keep Lopid Capsule in its original packaging to protect it from light and moisture.

• Store it at room temperature, below 25°C.

• Don't store this medicine in the bathroom or near a sink where it can get damp.

• Always keep this medicine well out of reach of children.

• Check the expiry date and don't use the medicine if it has expired.

• Limit your intake of fatty foods. Since Lopid Capsule is used to manage high cholesterol levels, a diet low in saturated fats and cholesterol can help enhance its effects.

• Regular physical activity can help manage cholesterol levels. Try to incorporate at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise, such as walking or cycling, into your routine each day. Always consult your doctor before starting any new exercise programme.
