Mahacef 100 Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing uncomplicated urinary tract infections

• Managing otitis media, a condition that affects the middle ear

• Dealing with pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes

• Handling acute bronchitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis

• Managing uncomplicated gonorrhoea in the cervix or urethra

Here's how you should take Mahacef 100 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid breaking, crushing or chewing the tablet.

• Always follow your doctor's advice regarding the dose and duration of use.

• If you have trouble swallowing the tablet, it can be dispersed in water to make a drinkable solution. Stir until it completely dissolves. Consume this solution immediately after preparation.

• It's crucial not to stop taking this medicine without first consulting your doctor.

Mahacef 100 Tablet is taken orally.

Mahacef 100 Tablet contains cefixime (100 mg). Here's how it works:

• Inhibits Bacterial Cell Wall Synthesis: Cefixime acts by interrupting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. It does so by binding to and inactivating special proteins called penicillin-binding proteins that are located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall.

• Destroys Bacteria: Because these proteins are necessary for maintaining the strength and rigidity of the cell wall, their inactivation causes the bacterium to weaken and rupture, eventually leading to its death.

• Resistant to Beta-lactamases: As a third-generation cephalosporin, cefixime has an extended spectrum of activity compared to earlier generation cephalosporins. Furthermore, it remains stable even in the presence of certain enzymes called beta-lactamases that are produced by bacteria to resist antibiotics.

• Store Mahacef 100 Tablet below 30°C, ideally in a dry place.

• Ensure protection from light and moisture.

• Keep this medicine out of children's reach.

• Check the expiry date before taking the tablet; don't use it past that date.
