This medication contains Mefenamic Acid, an NSAID. It works by blocking the enzymes that produce prostaglandins—the chemicals responsible for the uterine contractions that cause menstrual pain, as well as general swelling and fever. By lowering these levels, it effectively "soothes" the site of discomfort.
