Metagard CR-60 Tablet is used for the following:

• Preventing attacks of angina pectoris: This condition causes chest pain due to reduced blood supply to the heart.

• Enhancing cardiac function: It helps your heart work more efficiently.

• Reducing myocardial oxygen demand: This means it helps your heart use less oxygen.

• Decreasing the severity and frequency of angina attacks: This contributes to reducing discomfort and enhancing your quality of life.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew this medicine as it limits its effectiveness.

• You can take this medication with or without food, as per your comfort.

• Remember not to exceed the recommended dose.

Metagard CR-60 Tablet is taken orally.

Metagard CR-60 Tablet contains trimetazidine (60 mg) and works in your body as follows:

• Inhibits Long-Chain 3-Ketoacyl Coenzyme A Thiolase: Trimetazidine works by inhibiting an enzyme called long-chain 3-ketoacyl coenzyme A thiolase. This enzyme is involved in fatty acid oxidation, which is the process where fatty acids are broken down in your body for energy.

• Shifts Cardiac Energy Metabolism: By inhibiting this enzyme, trimetazidine shifts the energy metabolism in your heart from fatty acid oxidation to glucose oxidation. Glucose oxidation uses less oxygen than fatty acid oxidation, which helps to reduce the demand for oxygen in your heart.

• Reduces Myocardial Oxygen Demand: By shifting the cardiac energy metabolism, trimetazidine reduces the demand for oxygen in your heart. This helps to improve the function of your heart and reduces the frequency and severity of angina attacks.
