Metrogyl Compound Plus Tablet 10

Metrogyl Compound Plus Tablet is used in the following conditions:

• Treatment of gastrointestinal infections: This tablet can be used to treat stomach infections caused by susceptible bacteria and protozoa.

• Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet, as this may affect the way the medication is absorbed in the body.
• Do not change your dose of Metrogyl Compound Plus Tablet or take them more often than prescribed.

Metrogyl Compound Plus Tablet is taken orally.

Metrogyl Compound Plus Tablet contains the following components:

• Diloxanide (375 mg): It acts as an anti-amoebic agent that eliminates amoebic parasites from the intestines. It works by inhibiting the growth of Entamoeba histolytica, treating amoebiasis effectively and alleviating symptoms like abdominal pain and diarrhoea caused by amoebic infections.
• Ornidazole (250 mg): It is an antimicrobial agent that undergoes chemical changes inside the bacterial and protozoa cells that generate some compounds. These compounds interfere with DNA replication and cause damage to the genetic material of the microorganisms. As a result, ornidazole is effective against bacteria and protozoa. 
• Simethicone (25 mg): It is an antiflatulent agent that breaks down gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines. This helps to reduce bloating, abdominal distension, and discomfort caused by excessive gas. Simethicone does not have any direct effect on acid production but provides relief from symptoms related to gas and bloating.

• Store this medicine at a temperature below 30 ºC.
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep Metrogyl Compound Plus Tablet away from children.

• Drink clear fluids like water, oral rehydration solutions, and diluted fruit juices. You can make an oral rehydration solution by mixing salt, sugar, and water to replenish electrolytes.
• Both caffeine and alcohol can contribute to dehydration, so it's best to avoid them during diarrhoea.
• Eat smaller, more frequent meals to avoid stomach discomfort.
• Stick to the BRAT diet – bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. These foods are gentle on the stomach and can help firm up stools.
• Dairy products and fatty foods can worsen diarrhoea. Avoid these until your symptoms improve.
• Foods with natural probiotics, like yoghurt, can help restore the balance of beneficial gut bacteria.
